This class is perfect for beginners and provides the foundation every paddler needs. You’ll learn essential safety and paddling techniques both on land and on the water, including launching, forward and reverse strokes, turning, sweep and draw strokes, and even practicing a wet exit and assisted re-entry with the guidance of professional instructors. All gear is provided — including kayaks, paddles, life jackets, and immersion wear — so you just need to show up ready to have fun and learn! No previous experience is required. Classes are held year-round in Portland at Jantzen Beach.
